SEJ 2017 Board CandidatesThis election is to fill six Active-category seats on the Board of Directors. Three are for three-year terms, currently held by Susan Moran and Roger Witherspoon, with one of the seats previously held by Elizabeth Grossman. There are also two two-year seats currently held by Mark Schleifstein, who will step down during SEJ's annual conference, and Scott Dodd, appointed by the board to fill Kate Sheppard's vacated seat; and a one-year seat held by Randy Loftis, who will step down from the board Sept. 1.
Instructions on how to vote will be sent to all members eligible to vote in this election. Members of SEJ who will not vote in this election — Academic members, Associate members, Honorary members, new members joining after Sept. 4 and members in arrears with their dues as of Sept. 4 — will be notified about the election and why they are not on the voting list. See SEJ Election Policies. A quorum of 10 percent is needed for the election to be valid. If you are not able to attend SEJ's 27th Annual Conference in Pittsburgh, PA, where the annual meeting and election will be held, please vote absentee with your online ballot. If you do plan to attend the conference, please wait to vote on site so you can hear candidates's two-minute statements. On-site voting will be held Fri., Oct. 6 at 3:30 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Wyndham Grand Hotel Downtown, 600 Commonwealth Pl, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
